Our client is a well-established, highly respected commercial furniture dealership based in Toronto. Known for their strong relationships with top architects, designers, and end users, they deliver high-impact workplace solutions across corporate, institutional, and commercial sectors. As they continue to grow, they’re looking to add a Director of Design to lead their design department and shape the creative vision of the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design team and oversee creative direction across all client projects
Work closely with sales and project management teams to align design strategies with client goals
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate designers
Develop and refine internal design processes, ensuring efficiency and consistency
Represent the design team in client presentations, pitches, and design charrettes
Maintain awareness of design trends, materials, and industry standards
Oversee quality control and ensure deliverables meet company and client expectations
Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in Interior Design or related field
8+ years of experience in commercial/workplace design
Prior experience in a leadership or mentorship role
Strong knowledge of office furniture systems and dealership design processes
Proficient in design tools such as AutoCAD, CET Designer, SketchUp, or similar
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong organizational and project coordination abilities
